Privacy FAQs

Can I hide my IP?

Yes. During instant messaging and sharing files, your IP address is hidden from other users by default. During calls, the direct channel is established, bypassing the server, and with malicious software your IP can be disclosed. To avoid this, you can hide your IP and set transmitting data through the server. Go to the Security section in the menu and select the convenient mode: hiding IP from all contacts or adjustable per contact. To configure IP hiding for a contact individually, select the IP hiding option in the security settings for this user.

You can also hide your IP address during every incoming call, the option is available on all devices before the call starts.

Who can contact me in VIPole?

Only the people whom you have authorized can contact you. People need to know your name in VIPole and get your authorization confirmation to be able to communicate with you. If you want, you may let all users contact you, to do this you will need to change your default settings in the Account security tab: Who can send messages to me > Anyone.

Who can get access to my data?

Only you, because you are the only person who knows the secret phrase protecting your private encryption keys. Your data is inaccessible for third parties, and even for VIPole engineers. This is what makes VIPole different from many popular messaging solutions in terms of privacy.
